Sunti Golden Sugar Estates, Nigeria
The Golden Sugar Company Limited, produces sugar and rice on their 15 000 hectare Sunti Farm estate, located 30km west of Mokwa in Niger State. The cultivated sugar and rice are processed in mills on the estate.
As part of the expansion of the estate’s irrigation scheme, Brehnor Pumps have supplied a 900NB 7 Blade 1 Stage axial flow pump. This pump is capable of pumping 2 200 litres of water per second.
Greg Peake, of Brehnor Pumps, added that there were a further three turbine pumps (high flow, low head) supplied with the contract.
Brehnor Pumps has replaced one of the Magalies Water project’s 400NB 4 Blade 1 Stage axial flow pumps – for the supply of water in the Cullinan area. Greg Peake, Managing Director of Brehnor Pumps, added that Brehnor will be refurbishing two more horizontal axial flow pumps for the project.
These pumps were originally installed in 1995 and have been operating since then. This is testament to the success of the design of these axial flow pumps as well as the importance of selecting the correct pump to get the job done.
Magalies Water was originally established by Government Notice 234 of 1969 to mainly supply the needs of platinum mines in the Rustenburg and Thabazimbi areas. Over time, the capacity was extended to progressively cater for the needs of other consumers such as Sun City, other mines, industries and various communities.
In 1996, Magalies Water became involved in retail water-supply services when it was requested to operate, maintain and supply the retail services in the Mankwe, Moretele and Odi areas. In 1999, after negotiations with Rand Water, the company expanded to meet the demand of the rapidly increasing water needs of the Rustenburg region. Today, Magalies Water also operates and maintains potable- and waste-water plants on behalf of the City of Tshwane and the Rustenburg Municipality.
Companhia de Sena
Brehnor Pumps is pleased to announce a partnership with Companhia de Sena for the supply of spares and the on-site refurbishment of 7 axial flow pumps at their sugar mill in Marromeu, Mozambique. Greg Peake, Director, says that this is an important milestone for Brehnor and is looking forward to the partnership with Companhia de Sena. Situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, 300 km north of Beira, Companhia de Sena is Mozambique’s largest industrial sugar factory and produces in excess of 100 000 tons of sugar annually.
Brehnor Pumps have commissioned three axial flow pumps in Sierra Leone for Addax Bioenergy. The pumps were supplied through Ecochem Pumps (Pty) Ltd in South Africa and are for pumping water from the Rokel River into a canal system which supplies a number of KSB 150/50 centrifugal pumps connected to a centre pivot irrigation system. Each pump delivers around 700 litres per second at a duty head of 14 metres.
These axial flow pumps form part of The Makeni Project. This project consists of a sugar cane plantation, an ethanol refinery, a biomass power plant and related infrastructure. You can find out more about this project on the Addax Bioenergy website at www.addaxbioenergy.com.
Make a splash at Pines Resort in Krugersdorp. Behnor has recently supplied Pines Resort with a new 300NB 8 Blade 2 Stage axial flow pump for their super tube (waterslide). That’s 155 litres per second of super fun!
The mounting arrangement for this pump was engineered to suit the existing pipework and mounting to make it more convenient to install, saving on any modifications to the original installation over 20 years ago.
